Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (October 7, 2023)—A dominant second half propelled Mount St. Mary's past Marist, 2-0, on a rainy afternoon at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field. The Mountaineers have won three in a row to improve to 5-6-2 overall and 3-2-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.
Erin Antone and
Emily Streett each recorded their first career goals in the second half while
Klil Keshwar posted her third consecutive shutout to highlight the victory.
After a scoreless first half, the Mount came out strong in the second half, finally breaking through with the game's first goal in 71
st minute.
Alexa Dragisics played a ball to Antone in the middle and the freshman buried a shot to the low left part of the goal to put the Mount ahead, 1-0. Just five minutes later, Streett scored off an
Annie Sorando corner kick to push the advantage to a pair of goals.
Keshwar made the lead stand up with six saves in the contest for her third clean sheet in a row. Final shots in the game were tied at 10-10 with the Mount holding a 7-to-4 advantage in the second half.
The first half was played in a steady rain with the Mount's Keshwar making four saves to keep the game scoreless at the break. Marist held a 6-to-3 shot advantage in the opening 45 minutes, including a 4-0 margin in shots on target.
The Mount has won three in a row for the first time since winning three straight during the 2009 season.
