EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 19, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's bowling readies to compete in one of the largest fields for a tournament, as they are one of 34 at Sacred Heart's Northeast Classic in New Jersey.

SETTING THE SCENE
Mount St. Mary's faced a tough challenge hosting the Stormin' Blue & White Vegas Classic. Incentivized by playing at the upcoming national championship venue, the already popular event drew some of the best bowling teams in the country. The Mount came in 10
th with wins over #5 Stephen F. Austin, #17 Tulane, Texas Southern and Spalding.
In terms of fill percentage, the Mount remains consistent regardless of the type of game. They hold a slight advantage in Baker play at 79.3 percent to 79.1 percent for traditionals. One Mountaineer – freshman
Trishelle Leal Uribe – has an 80 percent rate or higher for all events. Anchor
Alyssa Alexander, as well as
Rachel Hines and
Sierra Calo, boasts strike rates over 40 percent in both formats.
At the Stormin' Blue & White, the team averaged an 18.44 in traditional play, bumped up to an 18.52 for Baker matches.
FORMAT
The Northeast Classic follows the regular format of Quint Baker/traditional/best-of-seven bracket play.
THE FIELD
With 34 teams, the weekend is an almost total who's who among the college bowling circuit. Many of the teams that participated in the Stormin' Blue & White are also here, including top ranked McKendree. In fact, 22 of the 25 teams ranked the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll – Louisiana Tech, Newman, and Lincoln Memorial are the exceptions – will be in attendance.
LOOKING AHEAD
Two more tournaments await the Mount in the month of January – the Northeast Classic, the annual joint venture hosted by Sacred Heart and Long Island, and the prestigious Prairie View Invite in Texas.
