EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 18, 2022) – One of the most decorated collegiate bowlers in recent years will offer insights to Mount St. Mary's, joining the staff for the 2022-23 season. Former All-American bowler
Olivia Farwell comes to Emmitsburg following a stellar career at Duquesne.

"I'm excited and grateful to be given this position and opportunity to help this program become even more successful!" Farwell said. "I cannot wait to give back to these girls and guide them to find success just like I achieved throughout my collegiate career."

Formidable as the Dukes' anchor, Farwell earned five All-American honors during her time in college. Two of those honors came in a spectacular senior season, where Farwell garnered special recognition as Bowler of the Year by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA). The Northeast Conference followed suit by awarding her the same honor at the conference level.

"Adding Olivia to our coaching staff just makes us that much stronger of a team." Said Head Coach
Kenneth DeGraaf. "As a former NEC member, we had many competitions against her during her time at Duquesne. She is every bit as good as her NCAA Player of the Year, PWBA Rookie of the Year, and Team USA Accolades would suggest. We are talking about not just one of the best players in the history of college bowling, but the history of our game worldwide. Despite all these accolades, Olivia has remained humble and kind throughout her journey, reminding us that more important than winning is winning the right way. I am excited for our young ladies to learn from Olivia as a valuable addition to our coaching staff."

Duquesne shined with Farwell as their anchor, serving as a worthy challenger to the Mountaineers as one-time conference foes. The Dukes finished last season one position behind Mount St. Mary's at No. 12 in the national NTCA poll and made an NCAA appearance in 2021 with two USBC showings (2019, 2022).

As an individual, she ascended through the Intercollegiate Singles Championships at USBCs multiple times, culminating in a second-place finish as a senior. Solo honors are nothing new for Farwell, who bowled Duquesne's first 300 game during the 2017-18 season and paired up with Alexis Nuerer to earn two National Youth Open Doubles Tournaments.

Turning professional upon graduation, she is already making a splash in the Professional Women's Bowling Association, collecting Rookie of the Year honors after a fifth-place finish in the championship round at the PWBA Pepsi Classic.

An alumnus of Elizabethtown High School in nearby Lancaster County, Farwell returns closer to home for this next assignment. While an interscholastic athlete, she set many records at both the state and national levels. The Bears won two regional titles and the 2014 Team Girls State Championship with Farwell in attendance.

Farwell joins DeGraaf and graduate assistant
Brianna Kauffman on the staff for 2022-23. The Mount's fifth season of competition and a quest for a third straight NCAA and USBC appearance begins in October.
