EMMITSBURG, Md. (June 22, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's men's soccer is set to embark on a new chapter as newcomers to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Many of these contests are MAAC games, paired with a selection of non-conference showdowns, totaling 16 occasions.
Regular season contests kick off August 25
th versus Delaware. This is the sixth meeting between the Mountaineers and Blue Hens, and the first since the Mount's revival as a program. The game also serves as a grudge match, coming in with a record of 2-2-1. Four non-conference games take place at Waldron Family Stadium, beginning with Radford on August 30
th. Lafayette, UMBC and Penn all make stops in Emmitsburg.
MAAC games start September 28
th on the road with a trip to Fairfield, Connecticut to play the Stags. One week later, the team returns home to face Saint Peter's. Niagara, Siena, Quinnipiac, and Iona are the conference teams slated to play at Waldron. Matches with the Bobcats and Gaels take place on October 26
th and 29
th, closing out the regular season.
Of the 10 schools in the new conference, the Mount has prior histories with six of them, along with a favorable combined record of 28-14-1. Quinnipiac – a former Northeast Conference rival – has the longest history with the Mountaineers at 15 engagements.
Early November marks the conference tournament – an six team, single elimination tournament with higher seeds hosting. Top-seeded Marist won last year's edition; a team not scheduled to challenge the Mount in the regular season.
Non-conference match times set to kick off at 7 p.m., with MAAC home games beginning at 5 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends.
