EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 1, 2025) – In their last road match of the 2025 regular season, Mount St. Mary's men's soccer was in prime position for points at the half. But two Iona second half goals separated the team in the second half as the Gaels defeated the Mountaineers 3-1 Saturday in New Rochelle.

Luciano Schaiffini supplied the Mount's goal, scoring via a 3-on-2 counter attack in the closing minutes of the opening half. The sophomore took a pass from
Jack Kehoe, came in from the right side of the box to draw out the Iona keeper. He then planted the shot into the left corner. The goal is Schiaffini's second of the season, and the assist is the first for Kehoe.

Defense did its part by maintaining position in the first, as the starting line of
Antoine DeCoteau,
Jack Kehoe,
Maciej Majcherczyk, and
Maks Czyz denied several goalkeeping opportunities by initiating the Gaels to go offside. Goalie
Julian Marcos finished with three saves.

With the result, Iona is now 7-3-5 and 5-1-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Mount is 3-8-5 and 3-5-1 in the league.

Mount St. Mary's concludes the regular season at home against Rider. Kickoff Wednesday (Nov. 5) is at 7 p.m. from Waldron Family Stadium.
