EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 25, 2022) – Sophomore designated hitter
Aiden Tierney earned a spot on the All-NEC Second Team after his first season with Mount St. Mary's baseball.
In 32 games played, Tierney registered a .358 average in 109 at-bats, adding 24 RBI's, 23 walks and 22 runs scored. All stats combined for an OPS of .966, split between an on-base percentage of .489 and a slugging percentage of .477.
Making his Mount debut on February 26
th after transferring in from Longwood, Tierney collected his first hits and RBIs with a double against UMBC on March 11
th. After missing some time due to a lower body injury, he finished the season strong playing every game from April 20
th until the end.
Against NEC opponents, he started 21 of 27 games and tallied a .366 average. 16 of his RBIs and 12 of his runs came in conference competition. This included home runs versus Fairleigh Dickinson and a critical shot in the Central Connecticut game, helping the Mount overcome the reigning conference champions.
Mount St. Mary's baseball completed the 2022 season last weekend.
