EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 9, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's women's rugby teams go 1-3 combined in pool play at the Queens Cup Tournament.

Lander 24, Mount St. Mary's 12
The Mount went down 5-0 to Lander, but responded with a try of their own when Kameka President was able to split the defense and run through an open lane. President scored her second try of the game after Veronica Blair passed the ball to President after she was tackled, and President ran it over the try line to give the Mount a 12-7 lead at the half. Lander scored 17 unanswered points to win the match.                                                                                                                                                                                  

LIU 48, Mount St. Mary's (B) 0
The Sharks got off to a fast start scoring on their first possession to take a 5-0 lead. LIU continued to put pressure on the B-side and scored three tries before reaching halftime. The Sharks were too much for the Mountaineers in the second half scoring three tries.                                                                                                                                                                                       
Queens 49, Mount St. Mary's 0
The B-side played a tough Queens side in their next match. Queens scored their first try around the five minute mark and scored three more tries before the half to be up 22-0. The Mountaineers could not keep up with the Royals as they scored four tries in the second half.

Mount St. Mary's 17, Queens (B) 7
The Mountaineers got on the board right before the half with excellent passing that led to a try to take a 5-0 lead. The Mount took a 10-0 lead, but the Royals scored a try and scored the conversion kick to cut the lead to three. The Mountaineers took the ensuing kickoff all the way to try zone and scored to secure the 17-7 victory.

The Mount will compete in the Navy Legacy 7s Tournament next Saturday, April 16th.
