Thomas Bramley's Walk-Off Home Run Lifts Mount St. Mary's Past Bucknell, 4-3

Emmitsburg, Md. (March 16, 2022)--Thomas Bramley connected for a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Mount St. Mary's to a 4-3 win over Bucknell in the home opener at E.T. Straw Family Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.  With one out in the bottom of the 10th inning, Bramley drove an 0-1 pitch over the fence in straightaway center field for the game-winning hit.

After Bucknell (3-9) grabbed a 2-0 lead on a Kyle Lyons two-run double in the top of the second inning, the Mount was able to even the score with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third.  In the third for the Mount, Danny Salisbury walked and Tyler Long singled to put runners on first and second with no outs. The runners advanced on a fly out, and Tristan McAlister followed with a base hit to slice Bucknell's lead in half.  McAlister stole second base to put runners on second and third, and Bramley was able to knot the score at 2-2 when his groundout to second plated Long with the tying run.

The Mount (3-9) took the lead in the bottom of the fifth.  Long was hit by a pitch and McAlister and Bramley each singled to load the bases with one out.  Tyler Grodell followed with a base hit to score Long with the go-ahead run.  Bucknell was able to escape the inning without further damage by getting a double-play to end the inning.

The score remained 3-2 until the top of the ninth when Bucknell was able to tie the game.  With a runner on first with two outs, the Bison strung together three consecutive walks to tie the score at 3-3.  Brett Midkiff came on in relief with the bases loaded and was able to get the final out of the inning on a grounder to third.

Midkiff pitched a scoreless top of the 10th inning to set up Bramley's heroics in the bottom of the inning.

Bramley finished the game 2-for-5 at the plate two RBI while McAlister went 2-for-4.  Mount starter Nick Breznak allowed two runs in 2.1 innings of work with Blake Beal pitching 3.2 innings of scoreless relief.  Max Moore allowed one run and no hits in 2.2 innings of releif while Midkiff picked up the win, holding Bucknell scoreless in 1.1 innings of work.

The Mount is back in action with three games against Georgetown this weekend.  Impending weather has altered the schedule as the Mount will head to Georgetown for a single game at 5:00 p.m .on Friday before the teams play a pair of nine-inning games on Sunday at the Mount's E.T. Straw Family Stadium at 11:00 a.m.
