MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's was edged at Howard, 63-62, on December 21 in their final non-conference game. Dakota Leffew recorded a career-high 23 points while adding six rebounds, five assists and four steals in the game while George Tinsley, Xavier Lipscomb and Malik Jefferson each had eight points in the loss. The Mount had a chance to win at the buzzer, but Malik Jefferson's hook shot in the lane at the buzzer was short, allowing Howard to escape with the win. The Mount had rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit to take the lead twice in the closing minutes.
- There has been an adjustment to the schedule for the Mount's two-game trip to Western New York as each of the games have been pushed back one day. The Mount will now head to Niagara for a 12:00 p.m. matchup on Saturday, December 31, in the first game of a MAAC doubleheader. Canisius and Rider will face off at 3:00 p.m. at the Gallagher Center that day. The Mount will play against Canisius on Monday, January 2, with the game time and location yet to be determined.
- This will be the third meeting all-time between the Mount and Niagara, and the first matchup between the two teams in 12 years. The Purple Eagles swept a home-and home series with a 74-64 win at the Mount on Nov. 25, 2009 and a 65-63 win at Niagara on Nov. 22, 2010.
- Dakota Leffew stuffed the stat sheet with a career high 23 points while adding six rebounds, five assists and four steals in the 63-62 loss at Howard. He is just the fifth player to record a game with those numbers against an NCAA Division I opponent this year, joining UAB's Jordan Walker (vs. Georgia), Xavier's Souley Boum (at Georgetown), Pitt's Nelly Cummings (vs. Sacred Heart) and UMass Lowell's Ayinde Hakim (at UMass).
- Xavier Lipscomb tallied eight points, seven rebounds, five assists and a career-high five steals at Howard on December 21. Lipscomb has provided the Mount a lift, averaging 10.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.7 steals over the past four games.
- Up next, the Mount will face Canisius on Monday, January 2. Game time and location to be determined.
