MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's saw its second-half rally come up short in a 73-66 loss at Bryant on Saturday afternoon. Trailing by 14 in the second half, the Mount cut the deficit to three on a pair of occasions late in the half, but Bryant was able to withstand the rally to hold on for the win. Nana Opoku registered 15 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in recording his second double-double of the season in the loss. Jalen Benjamin added 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting in the game for the Mountaineers as well.
- Nana Opoku has been the Mount's most consistent scorer of late, tallying double figures in each of the past eight games. Opoku is coming off a 15-point, 10-rebound effort at Bryant and is averaging 13.4 points and 7.0 rebounds over that stretch. Opoku, the reigning Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, had three blocks against Bryant and is averaging 3.50 blocks over his past four games.
- The Mount swept the two-game series last year on Jan. 14-15 at Knott Arena to take a 4-1 lead in the all-time series with Merrimack. The Mount lost its lone appearance at Merrimack, 64-61, on Jan. 9, 2020. Nana Opoku is averaging a double-double (12.3 ppg, 10.5 rpg) in four career games against the Warriors.
- Malik Jefferson started his 100th career game at Bryant on Saturday afternoon. Jefferson has started 100 of his 101 career games played as a Mountaineer. He leads the team in rebounding with 6.3 per game and is looking to become the second player in Mount history to lead the team in rebounding four consecutive seasons.
- Josh Reaves is averaging 12.3 points in three Northeast Conference games this year, shooting 59.1 percent from the field and 7-of-14 (.500) from three-point range. Reaves is averaging 7.6 points per game on the year.
