Women's Soccer Downed by Bucknell, 2-0

Emmitsburg, Md. (September 3, 2021)--Mount St. Mary's fell to visiting Bucknell, 2-0, on Friday night at Waldron Family Stadium on campus.  Goalkeeper Arden Lembryk made a career-high 13 saves for the Mountaineers in the setback.

Bucknell (2-2-1) came out strong in the opening part of the first half as Lembryk made four saves in the first 12 minutes of the contest.  The Mount settled down after the opening minutes, and had a chance to take the early lead, but Kalli Bell sent a shot high.  The Bison broke into the scoring column in the 23rd minute on a nice passing play to take the lead.  Paige Temple finished a cross from Kenar Gelman, who was sent down the right side on a feed from Teresa Deda.  Gelman and Deda each picked up an assist on the goal.

The goal began an offensive flurry by the Bison that saw Abby Gearhart score off a corner kick in the 28th minute for a two-goal lead.  Gelman and Deda each picked up assists on that goal as well.  Lembryk then made a diving stop in the 30th minute, and Maddie Tchou made a team save in the 40th minute to keep the Mount within range.  The Bison went to the locker room with the two-goal advantage.  Play in the second half was more even with the Mount having a chance to cut into the deficit in the 78th minute, but Hannah Cooksey had her shot stopped by Bucknell keeper Kaylee Donnelly.

Bucknell outshot the Mount, 27-to-6, in the game including a 16-to-2 advantage in shots on goal.  Elisabeth Rockhill led the Mount with a pair of shots while Lembryk made 13 saves to give her 30 over her three appearances in goal this season.  Bucknell held a 9-to-3 edge in corner kicks as well.  Jenna Hall played the first half for the Bison in goal to pick up the win while Donnelly played the second stanza.

The Mount is back in action at home on Sunday, September 5, when Towson visits Waldron Family Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off.
