Isabella Wendler, who volleyed the cross home to put the Mount ahead, 2-0.
Sacred Heart (3-4-1, 1-1-0 NEC) answered back in the 36th minute on a goal from Madison Palma. Maria Nolan sent a pass across to the top of the box to Grace O'Hara, who tapped a pass to send Palma in on goal. Palma was able to complete the play to cut the Mount's advantage in half.
Maggie Wishart helped the Mount regain a two-goal lead in the 40th minute on a sensational corner kick goal. Wishart took the kick and sent the ball into the upper corner on the far side of the goal for her first collegiate score. That pushed the Mount to a 3-1 lead at the half. Sacred Heart had the wind advantage in the second half, but the Mount defense stood tall, holding the Pioneers off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
Sacred Heart held a 26-to-8 edge in shots in the game, but the Mount defense forced most of those shots from the perimeter as the Pioneers had just seven shots on frame in the contest.
