Annapolis, Md. (September 10, 2021)--Elisabeth Rockhill staked Mount St. Mary's to an early lead, but Navy recovered to nip the Mount, 2-1, at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility on Friday night. Navy scored the game winner in the 79th minute to secure the win.
Rockhill gave the Mount the early lead with her team-leading third goal of the season just 3:36 into the game. Rockhill came down the right side and saw her sharp angle shot beat Navy goalkeeper Mattie Gallagher to the upper side of the near post for the 1-0 advantage. The Mount had a chance to take a two-goal lead less than a minute later, but
Isabella Wendler's volley from 15 yards out went just over the cross bar. Navy tied the score in the sixth minute when Alexa Riddle scored off a Rylee Rives corner kick to even the score. The score remained tied at the half with Navy outshooting the Mount, 14-to-6, in the opening half, including a 4-to-1 margin in shots on goal.

Arden Lembryk came away with a pair of saves to keep the game deadlocked. Rockhill had a chance in the 59th minute but saw her shot stopped by Navy keeper Megan LaMendola. Navy broke through for the game-winning goal in the 79th minute. Riddle played a ball to the middle to Amanda Graziano, who broke free and sent home the shot for the 2-1 lead. From there, Navy kept the Mount at bay to seal the win.
Navy finished with a 29-to-7 shot advantage, but held an 8-to-3 edge in shots on goal. Rockhill led the Mount with a goal on a team-high three shots. She leads the Mountaineers in scoring this season with three goals and two assists. Lembryk made six saves in the game. Riddle had a goal and an assist to pace the Midshipmen. LaMendola made one save in a scoreless second half to earn the win in goal with Gallagher making one save in the opening half.
The Mount returns to action on Sunday, September 12, when UMBC visits Waldron Family Stadium on campus for a 1:00 p.m. start. Prior to the game, the Mount will honor this year's senior class.
