EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 1, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's freshman 
Jacob Wallace won the 100 meter breaststroke and helped in scoring 54 points for the men's team during day two of the Northeast Conference Championships in Carlisle, Pa.
Wallace qualified by winning the preliminaries with a time of 53.88 seconds. His final time was slightly slower at 54.20 but was more than enough to take the title. His win was complimented with a second place showing as a member of the 200 yard medley relay squad. The quartet finished that race in 1:31.03.
Two more men's swimmers took top three finishes as individuals. 
Jason Fitch took second with a 49.99 second effort in the 100 backstroke, and 
Nicholas Santorelli swam the 200 freestyle in 1:40.86, securing a third place finish.
In total, 18 Mount men qualified for the finals, bringing the total for the tournament to 31.
Senior 
Valeria Villagran continued to take the lead for the women's team, qualifying for the final in the 100 meter butterfly. She netted three points with a time of 57.83 seconds, coming in 14
th place. Junior 
Kira Buchler joined in as an individual finalist, coming in ninth with a 56.99 in the 100 backstroke.
The duo also aided in the 200 medley relay, helping the foursome end in sixth place by earning a time of 1:48.01.
In the standings, the men rank fourth with 390 points while the women rank eighth with 132 points.
Day three and the ultimate culmination of the championship takes place Thursday.
