EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 26, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's sophomore forward
Lindsay Reightler scored her first goal as a Mountaineer, but the women's soccer team found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-1 decision to Sacred Heart Friday.
Reightler's goal came in the 60
th minute and at the time cut the deficit to 2-1.
Maddie Tchou assisted on the strike.
Keeper
Arden Lembryk had a busy day, fending a dozen shots on goal. The freshman's nine saves serve as a new career high.
The ruthless offense of Sacred Heart came out of the gate firing with three shots in the first 10 minutes. Their fourth shot off the foot of Sofia Germano got the Pioneers on the board. Michelle Clarkin added the second goal in the opening minutes of the second half.
Reightler's strike brought the Mount back into the contest, but off a corner kick seven minutes later, the Pioneers got their third – a two-assist strike from Jill Klem.
The Mount had three more attempts at the net, but all sailed wide of the target.
With the defeat, the Mountaineers fall to 2-3 on the season. They will have a quick turnaround for two games at Waldron this coming week, hosting Wagner Tuesday (Mar. 30) and Fairleigh Dickinson Friday (Apr. 2).
