Antoine White’s First Win, Toppled Records Headline Mount’s Win over Valley Forge

EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 13, 2021) – The first career victory for Mount St. Mary's women's basketball head coach Antoine White was one for the record books, and not just for being first.

Posting their largest margin of victory and fewest points allowed in program history, six Mountaineers recorded new career highs in points as the team cruised to a 102-15 performance over Valley Forge Saturday.

Aryna Taylor led the way for the new career highs, shooting a perfect 9-for-9 from the field to score 25. Isabella Hunt posted her first double-double at the Mount with 15 points and 11 boards, and Jessica Tomasetti crossed the 20-point mark for the first time in college, shooting 9-of-14. Jada Lee added 10 points to beat her previous high of eight last year.

A pair of freshmen received significant playing time, led by Jasmine Lindsay-Huskey with 23 minutes and five points. Abby Bailey tallied six points in 12 minutes of action.

Kayla Agentowicz – who tied a career high for rebounds with eight – opened the scoring for the Mount, striking a triple 45 seconds in. Valley Forge countered with a jumper to make it a 3-2 and that was as close at proceedings would get. The home team delighted their fans with a 26-0 run to close out the first period.

The Patriots ended the run with a layup to open the second quarter, but the Mount could not be stopped. They led 48-6 at half, 76-10 after three. Tomasetti sent the score into triple figures with 55 ticks remaining.

Defeating the opponent by 87 points is the highest margin since the Mount began competing in 1974. The 15 points surrendered are also the fewest in history. Both marks topple a record on the books since 1976, when Mount St. Mary's won a contest over Hood College, 95-22.

Blocks also played a factor with 12 rejections, tied for the second-most in team history. Kendall Bresee tied a career best with four denials.

Valley Forge received five points from Destiny Cox. Competing in Division III, the Patriots exercised their option to make this contest an exhibition and thus it will not count towards their standings. D-III schools can accept one invitation per year with a D-1 opponent and label it an exhibition.

Standing at 1-1 this year, the Mount travels to Maryland Tuesday (Nov. 16). In addition to building a winning streak, the Mountaineers are seeking their first-ever win over the Terrapins and vengeance on the squad that ended their season last March in San Antonio.
