EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 30, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's women's rugby couldn't find ways to beat the Bobcats defense as Quinnipiac defeats the Mountaineers 29-5 this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bobcats scored the game's first points after Quinnipiac won the scrum, got to the near side, and made the extra pass for Mariah Norris-Johnson to score, with Lex Haskins making the conversion kick make it 7-0.
- The Mount responded about six minutes later when the Mountaineers won the scrum deep in Quinnipiac's territory, and Tania Wheeler picked up the ball came up short. Still, Lisa Madray scored on the second effort to make it 7-5.
- Quinnipiac went on a 14-0 run that lasted about three minutes, with the first try coming off a scrum win for the Bobcats, who passed it out wide and scored by cutting back into the middle and shaking off defenders. The second try was scored when Quinnipiac had a big return on the kickoff, and the Bobcats scored after they did a quick restart to make it 21-5 going into halftime.
- Both teams came out of half going back and forth, but Quinnipiac was able to get on the board first in the second half on a penalty kick that increased their lead to 24-5.
- Quinnipiac scored the game's final try when Quinnipiac countered the Mountaineers and worked their way across the field through passing to get Kat Storey her second try of the game to reach the final score of 29-5.
