Smithfield, R.I. (October 3, 2021)—Mount St. Mary's saw its two-game win streak snapped by Bryant, 5-3, in a high scoring affair on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Mount sees its record fall to 4-8-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the Northeast Conference.
The Mount had a perfect beginning, scoring just 53 seconds into the match to take the lead on a strike from sophomore
Isabella Wendler. Bryant was able to fight back to even the score when Catherine Bean connected for a goal in the 10
th minute.
The Mount avoided further damage when a bean shot hit the crossbar in the 27
th minute, and the Mountaineers were able to capitalize on a late opportunity to regain the lead
Alexa Dragisics found the back of the goal on an assist from
Emily Streett to give the Mount a 2-1 lead at the break.
Bryant (4-7-0, 2-2-0 NEC) found an equalizing goal 2:16 into the second half when Jordyn Collins scored with Katie Cronin picking up the assist. Mount St. Mary's was able to counter to regain the lead when
Hannah Cooksey scored in the 57
th minute. It was Cooksey's team-leading fifth goal of the year.
Bryant was able to fight back, scoring twice in a span of 5:30 to take a 4-3 lead. First, Cronin converted a pass from Bean when she put a shot into the upper right corner to tie the score in the 63
rd minute. In the 69
th minute, Emma Pedolzky was able to give Bryant its first lead of the game. Cronin added a late goal to provide the final score.
Bryant held a 16-to-6 advantage in shots in the game, including a 10-to-5 margin in shots on goal.
Arden Lembryk made five saves for the Mount while Kathryn McNeil had a pair of saves for Bryant.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Thursday when LIU visits Waldron Family Stadium for a 5:00 p.m. matchup.
