In an evenly played first half, the Mount's
Elisabeth Rockhill had a pair of shots turned back in the opening 10 minutes.
Maggie Wishart almost converted on a corner kick for the Mount in the 14th minute when her corner kick attempt his off the cross bar. The Warriors (3-10-2, 3-5-0 NEC) had a chance to take the lead in the 29th minute, but Barron tipped the shot off the cross bar to keep the game scoreless. The Warriors broke through for the only goal of the game three minutes later when Ella Cormier tucked a shot inside the left post for the 1-0 lead. Molly Murnane picked up an assist on the play. In the second half, the Mount had seven shots, but just one on target, as Merrimack was able to keep the Mountaineers off the scoreboard to secure the win.
Rockhill paced the Mount with seven shots in the game, including a pair on target.
Isabella Wendler added three shots in the game that saw Merrimack hold a narrow 20-to-16 edge in shots. Barron made five saves for the Mount in her first action since September 18 against Central Connecticut. The Mount was held off the scoreboard for the first time since the previously mentioned matchup with Central Connecticut. Michelle Silva played the first half for the Warriors, making three saves to earn the win. Claire DeFlora played the second stanza with one saves in the combined shutout.
The Mountaineers return home to face St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday, October 21, at 5:00 p.m., in the final home game of the 2021 regular season.
