EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 8, 2020) - Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse freshman Steven Schmitt was acknowledged by SB Nation's College Crosse as part of their Honorable Mention All-Freshman team. 

Appearing in all eight contests for the Mountaineers this season, Schmitt caused 10 turnovers - second most on the team - and finished tied for second in ground balls with 23. He created four turnovers in Mount's game on March 3rd for a season high. In the team's wins over VMI and Utah, he combined for 13 ground balls and split four turnovers. Seven of the ground balls helped the Mount come back against the Keydets and serve as another season high for Schmitt. 

Schmitt is a native of Cambridge, N.Y. and came to the Mount after graduating from Burr and Burton Academy. He is studying international business at Mount St. Mary's.

The men's lacrosse team finished 3-5 before the season was cut short following the Johns Hopkins game on March 10th.
