Box Score DAVIS, Calif. (March 6, 2020) - Freshman outfielder Brady Drawbaugh helped the Mount earn a 2-0 lead in his first career start, but the UC Davis Aggies rallied to defeat the Mountaineers, 5-2, on Friday. The Mount falls to 0-8 this season.
Drawbaugh's double to left-center field broke a stalemate after three innings, scoring Thomas Bramley and Vaughn Parker II. It was almost a bases clearing play, but Trevor Leamer was thrown out at home. For the game, Parker continued his hot start with another two-hit showing.
The Aggies (8-5) swung the tide in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four times off Mountaineer reliever Brendan Kennedy. A double by Mike Campagna tied the score, and a single by J.D. Mico gave UC Davis the lead for good.
Starter Michael Yetter was pulled during the fourth in favor of Kennedy, but once he exited, relievers Sean Flynn and Brett Midkiff kept the contest within reach thanks to 12 outs without conceding an earned run. But Mount was unable to rally, with the only threat in the sixth coming to an end on a double play.
An RBI double from UC Davis in the eighth added insurance, and the Mountaineers were held in check by Kaden Riccomi, who recorded a three inning save.
Mount St. Mary's concludes its West Coast swing with a doubleheader against the Aggies Saturday (March 7).
