EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 3, 2020) - After starting 0-5 over the first two weekends, Mount St. Mary's baseball is hoping for a better outcome as they head to the West Coast for a two-game series with the University of San Francisco.
This is the first-ever meeting between the Mountaineers and the Dons.
ABOUT THE MOUNT
Mount was swept by the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks in a doubleheader this past Friday. The Mountaineers were shutout over 16 innings, losing the first game, 4-0 and the second 7-0.
Vaughn Parker II continues to lead the team in batting average, going .500 (7-for-14) in the first two weekends with six free passes. Pitching did lower their ERA, with freshman Luke Pryor leading the squad. The Middletown, Md. native has not surrendered an earned run in 4 2/3 innings of work.
ABOUT THE DONS
San Francisco stands 4-7 on the season, including two of three last weekend at Cal State Fullerton. The Dons also have victories against UC Davis and CSU Bakersfield. Mount will be USF's first opponents from outside the state of California.
Five batters for the Dons register averages over .300, led by Harris Williams at .381. The pitching staff has tallied a 5.28 ERA with 9.9 strikeouts per nine innings. Eric Reyzelman leads with 17 strikeouts and 15 1/3 innings, posting a 4.70 ERA in the process. Landen Bourassa has made three spot starts, earning a 2.25 ERA.
