MOUNT ST. MARY'S 5K DUALS

The Mount St. Mary's cross country teams open the 2019 season by hosting the 5K Duals on campus on Friday.
TIME: Men's Race at 11 am with women's race to follow
PLACE: Mount St. Mary's University
SCHOOLS COMPETING: Mount St. Mary's, American, Georgetown, George Washington, Johns Hopkins, Maryland (W), Stevenson, UMBC and Washington Adventist.
RESULTS: Results will be available following the race at www.mountathletics.com and www.mdtimingllc.com.
SCORING FORMAT: The race will be scored in a dual-scoring format with each score receiving a dual-meet score against each of the other opponents.
REGIONAL RANKING: The Mount St. Mary's men's cross country team is ranked 14th in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region Preseason Rankings, announced Monday. This is the first time the Mountaineers have garnered a regional ranking since being ranked four weeks during the 2011 season. Princeton tops the Mid-Atlantic region rankings followed by Villanova, Georgetown, Penn, Temple., Penn State, LaSalle, Navy, Pittsburgh, Saint Joseph's, Duquesne, Bucknell, Monmouth, the Mount and Lehigh.
PRESEASON POLLS: The Mountaineer men were picked to finish first while the women were picked fourth in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
5K DUALS HISTORY: This will be the 14th year at the Mount has opened the season by hosting the 5K Duals. On the women's side, Navy has won the title six times, American five, with Johns Hopkins, UMBC and Maryland each winning once. On the men's side, American has won the meet six times, UMBC three times, George Washinton twice, Navy twice, Maryland and the Mount once.
