MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS
New Britain, Conn. (November 2, 2019)—Defending champion Mount St. Mary's finished in third place at the 2019 Northeast Conference men's cross country championships held at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn, on Saturday morning. The Mountaineer women's team finished in fourth place in the women's championship race.
Will Merritt, Isaac Kole and Mitchel Wileczek all earned All-NEC honors by finishing in the top 14 while the Mount had five runners in the top 28 in the field. Merritt paced the Mount by finishing in third place overall in a time of 25:42.3 for the eight-kilometer course to earn All-NEC honors for the second consecutive season. Also earning All-NEC for the second straight year was Kole, who finished in sixth place with a time of 25:52.6. Wileczek was the third Mountaineer in the top 10 by finishing 10th with a time of 26:02.2 to collect All-NEC honors. Jonah Smith was the Mount's fourth runner to cross the line, just ahead of teammate Grant West. Smith finished 27th in the field with a time of 26:56.5 while West had a time of 26:58.0.
Wagner captured the crown with 43 points, followed by Central Connecticut (50), Mount St. Mary's (74), Saint Francis U (75), Merrimack (94), Bryant (152), Sacred Heart (232), Long Island (250), St. Francis Brooklyn (272) and Fairleigh Dickinson (279).
Erin Jaskot paced the Mountaineers by finishing in second place with a time of 17:47.2 for the five-kilometer course while Maddie Kole finished fourth with a time of 18:01.4. It is the second consecutive season the duo has earned All-NEC honors.
The rest of the Mount's top five runners included Theresa Long (25th, 19:20.1), Alexandra Kay (43rd, 18:48.0) and Destiny Boone (45th, 19:02.1).
Central Connecticut captured the women's title with 38 points, followed by Sacred Heart (71), Saint Francis U (85), Mount St. Mary's (111), Merrimack (131), Bryant (175), Wagner (186), Fairleigh Dickinson (195), Robert Morris (221), St. Francis Brooklyn (293) and Long Island (301).
