RESULTS
Bethlehem, Pa. (November 15, 2019)— The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's cross country teams closed out the 2019 season by competing at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional held at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course at Lehigh University on Friday. Will Merritt was the top runner for the men's team at the race while Erin Jaskot was the top finisher for the women's team.
Merritt finished in 42nd place overall in the field of 175 runners with a time of 31:24.6 for the 10-kilometer course while teammate Isaac Kole was close behind, finishing 46th overall with a time of 31:31.6. Mitchel Wileczek (108th, 32:59.2), Grant West (131st, 33:26.8) and Jonah Smith (145th, 33:44.3) rounded out the Mount's top five.
The men's team finished in 16th place out of the field of 25 teams. Villanova won the team title with 37 points, followed by Georgetown (67), Princeton (82), Temple (100), Penn (148), Penn State (155), Pittsburgh (206), Navy (224), La Salle (260), Bucknell (273), Saint Joseph's (317), Lehigh (405), Saint Francis U (413), Marshall (449), Rutgers (453), Mount St. Mary's (465), Lafayette (475), Monmouth (490), Rider (490), Duquesne (498), American (521), NJIT (553), UMBC (668), Loyola (744) and Seton Hall (760).
For the women's team, Jaskot paced the Mount by finishing in 52nd place in the field of 208 runners with a time of 21:25.6 for the six-kilometer course while Maddie Kole was 92nd with a time of 22:04.6. Alexandra Kay (180th, 23:25.4), Destiny Boone (188th, 23:44.1) and Theresa Long (189th, 23:47.8) rounded out the Mount's top five at the meet.
The women's team finished in 25th place in the field of 31 teams with a team score of 701 points. Penn State took home first place (73 points), followed by Villanova (77), Georgetown (91), Princeton (93), West Virginia (122), Penn (156), Temple (246), La Salle (267), George Washington (276), Delaware (299), Bucknell (337), Navy (378), Duquesne (424), Lehigh (428), Pittsburgh (467), Maryland (477), Lafayette (502), Rutgers (516), Towson (528), Monmouth (585), Rider (588), Saint Joseph's (608), Loyola (613), UMBC (627), Mount St. Mary's (701), Marshall (723), Saint Francis U (727), American (821), Maryland Eastern Shore (891) and NJIT (964).
