Mount Cross Country Teams Complete Busy Day at Princeton and Gettysburg Invitationals

PRINCETON RESULTS | GETTYSBURG RESULTS

October 19, 2019—The Mount St. Mary's cross county teams competed at both the Princeton Invitational and the Gettysburg Invitational today.  Will Merritt finished in 18th place in the field of 235 runners to pace the men at Princeton while Maddie Kole finished 28th in the field of 207 to lead the women at Princeton.

Merritt finished the eight-kilometer course in a time of 24:29.1 to finish in 18th place to pace the Mount in the meet at Princeton.  Isaac Kole finished 49th overall with a time of 25:06.2 while Mitchel Wileczek was 104th with a time of 25:36.0.  Grant West (148th, 26:04.8) and Jonah Smith (159th, 26:14.2) rounded out the Mount's top five.  At Gettysburg, the Mount finished in 11th place with John Wang leading the way, finishing 49th overall with a time of 28:07.82. 

The men's team finished in 14th place in the field of 24 teams at the competitive field at Princeton.  Stony Brook took home first place with 55 points, followed by Connecticut (120), La Salle (133), Boston University (142), Fordham (151), Penn (170), Alabama (222), Massachusetts (255), George Mason (257), Marist (308), Davidson (319), Monmouth (345), Duquesne (365), Mount St. Mary's (407), Rutgers (436), Hofstra (443), Columbia (460), George Washington (476), Quinnipiac (484), Rider (519), UMBC (520), UMass Lowell (522), Wagner (552) and Loyola (683).

For the women at Princeton, Maddie Kole finished 28th overall with a time of 22:13.8 to lead the way.  Alexandra Kay (124th, 23:42.9), Theresa Long (143rd, 24:01.1), Destiny Boone (164, 24:27.4) and Adria Pirozzi (171st, 24:41.5) rounded out the Mount's top five on the 6,170m course.  At Gettysburg, Grace King finished 93rd with a time of 26:03.4 to lead the Mountaineers.

The Mount women finished in 18th place in the women's race at Princeton.  Boston University took home first place at the meet with 53 points, followed by George Washington (94), La Salle (97), Connecticut (118), Columbia (135), Marist (140), Duquesne (189), George Mason (266), UMBC (281), Fordham (282), Towson (308), Monmouth (335), Rutgers (354), Penn (357), Rider (428), UMass Lowell (428), Delaware (452), Mount St. Mary's (489), Loyola (508), and Wagner (548).
