Big Weekend Series At Central Connecticut State For Mount Baseball As Playoffs Draw Near

NORTHEAST CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT RACE
Mount St. Mary's sits in the number four and final spot in the division playoff race right now. Central Connecticut sits right behind the Mount in the number 5 spot. The Mountaineers are currently three games ahead of the Blue Devils. The weekend matchup could have huge implications for the final stretch of the season to see who can nab the final playoff spot for the NEC Tournament.

MOUNT UPDATE
Mount St. Mary's baseball dropped a mid-week game at Georgetown 12-5 on Tuesday night under the lights. Mount junior Patrick Causa led the offense by going 2 for 3 (.667) with a double and a single while driving in all of the Mount's five runs in the game. Freshmen Matthew Kephart and Myles Nicholson each added one hit and scored twice in the loss. Jordan Geber and Nathan Seltsam combined to throw a scoreless eighth frame. The Mountaineers drop to 17-24 on the year and Georgetown moves to 18-24 with the win.

ABOUT THE BLUE DEVILS
Senior Dean Lockery launched a pair of homeruns for Central Connecticut in a 9-6 win at Quinnipiac in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday. Sophomore Chris Kanios added a three-run shot for the Blue Devils, who had eight players collect a hit on the day. Central improves to 14-23 on the season, while Quinnipiac is now 20-24 overall. The Blue Devils pounded out 13 hits as a team, with Lockery going 3-for-4. Sophomore Chandler Debrosse also added three hits, while freshman Jake Siracusa collected a pair of hits. Freshman Peyton Stephens started and went 3.0 innings for CCSU. He struck out three and allowed two earned runs. Juniors Mike Appel and Patrick Mitchell allowed just one hit over the final 2.2 innings to seal up the win.

ALL-TIME SERIES WITH CENTRAL CONNECTICUT
The Mountaineers and Blue Devils have met 70 times in series history, with Central Connecticut holding a 44-26 advantage. Last season, Central Connecticut State took all three games on their home field and all three games in Emmitsburg. The Blue Devils own a 22-13 record in the all-time series in Connecticut. The Mount's last win on Central's home field came in April of the 2016 season when they beat the Blue Devils 6-4.
