Mount Baseball Set For Doubleheader Action Against Sacred Heart Sunday In Darien

Games against Sacred Heart scheduled for Friday (March 23), Saturday (March 24), and Sunday (25) in Emmitsburg have been cancelled due to field conditions. A doubleheader against the Pioneers is set for Sunday (March 25) in Darien, Connecticut.

MOUNT UPDATE
Games against Sacred Heart scheduled for Friday (March 23) and Saturday (March 24) have been cancelled due to field conditions. A doubleheader against the Pioneers is set for Sunday (March 25). The Mount's last game against UMBC was cancelled on Tuesday (March 20) due to snow. The Mountaineers are coming off of a three-game series at Davidson where the Wildcats took all three games. The Mount baseball team was downed 18-7 by Davidson in the three game series finale on Sunday afternoon. Alex Kriss, Patrick Causa, Vaughn Parker II, and Andrew Malone each recorded a multi-hit game in the loss for the Mountaineers. Parker was 2 for 5 with a single, a homerun, and four runs batted in to lead the Mount offense. Sean Flynn pitched one scoreless inning in relief while not giving up a hit and striking out one batter.

ABOUT THE PIONEERS
The Sacred Heart University baseball team was unable to complete the comeback on Tuesday afternoon, falling to University of Rhode Island, 5-3. The Rams (5-14) had a 5-0 lead after six innings of play but the Pioneers (4-11) tacked on three runs in the seventh before dropping the non-conference matchup at Bill Beck Field.

ALL-TIME SERIES WITH SACRED HEART
The Mountaineers sit at 19-40 in the all-time series with Sacred Heart. The Pioneers took three out of four last season in a four game series in Emmitsburg and have won seven of the last eight meetings between the teams.

UP NEXT
The Mountaineers travel to Maryland-Eastern Shore on Tuesday, March 27 for a mid-week doubleheader with the first game beginning at 1 PM.
