Mount St. Mary's Baseball Travels To Davidson For A Three Game Series This Weekend

MOUNT UPDATE
The Mountaineers' game against Penn State on Wednesday was postponed due to freezing conditions. Before the Penn State game, the Mount St. Mary's baseball team dropped two games at UMBC. In the first game, the Mount was edged 9-7 by UMBC last Friday. Vaughn Parker II and Thomas Savastio recorded multi-hit games for the Mount while driving in five of the six runs batted in on the day. Parker went 2 for 4 with a double, a homerun, and three RBI's while Savastio went 2 for 4 with two singles, and two RBI's. Michael Kuypers pitched 3.0 innings in relief while only giving up one run on three hits to finish up the game for the Mount. In the second game, the Mountaineers were held hitless in the 11-0 loss against Hofstra on Saturday. Noah Smith pitched one inning, gave up one hit, and struck out one batter in relief for the Mount. With these two losses, Mount St. Mary's drops to 3-7 on the season.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS
Davidson picked up its second straight double-digit victory Wednesday, downing North Carolina Central 10-2 at Wilson Field. The 'Cats used just six hits to do damage, led by sophomore Ward Coleman's two doubles. Junior Eric Jones also doubled, and freshman Ruben Fontes recorded his first collegiate hit in his first career at bat, a bloop single to shallow right field. Veteran Connor Gordon improved to 3-2 on the season, tossing four frames and striking out three.

ALL-TIME SERIES WITH DAVIDSON
Davidson owns an 11-2 advantage in the all-time series with the Mountaineers, with all 13 games played on the Wildcats home field. The last time these two teams met was in the 2014 season where a two game series was split at one game apiece. The Mount took the first game 8-2, but fell 11-0 in the second game of the series.
