Mount St. Mary's Inducts Four Members Into Athletics Hall of Fame

Emmitsburg, Md. (January 27, 2018) – The Mount St. Mary's University athletic department celebrated the careers of Nick DeFelice (C'01), Mandy Jenkins (C'07), Dustin Pease (C'07) and Eric Smith (C'07) with their induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday as part of a ceremony at the Cardinal Keeler Dining Room of Patriot Hall.

Nick DeFelice  | Class of 2001 | Men's Lacrosse
DeFelice played a vital role in helping guide Mount St. Mary's to a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship as a senior in 2001. The attacker registered a career-high 28 goals and 52 points during the 2001 campaign while collecting First Team All-MAAC honors. DeFelice, who was the MAAC Rookie of the Year in 1998, compiled top-15 totals in several all-time categories while at the Mount, including 85 assists (8th), 180 points (11th), 169 ground balls (12th) and 95 goals (14th).

Mandy Jenkins | Class of 2007| Track & Field
Jenkins remains one of the top pole vaulters in Mount St. Mary's history, holding the school's indoor pole vault record and ranking second all-time in the outdoor event. Jenkins won the Northeast Conference (NEC) indoor pole vault in each of her four seasons and captured the outdoor title three times, as she earned First Team All-NEC honors a total of seven times in her career. Jenkins advanced to the NCAA East Regional in the outdoor pole vault in all four years at the Mount. Also excelling in the classroom, Jenkins was named a Second Team National Academic All-American in 2006 before earning a spot on the First Team as a senior in 2007. Jenkins was also a three-time ESPN The Magazine First Team District II Academic All-American.

Dustin Pease | Class of 2007 | Baseball
As one of the most decorated players in Mount St. Mary's baseball history, Pease holds program records in both strikeouts (304) and wins (31), while ranking among the top-five in six other categories. The lefty also holds Mount single-season records for most strikeouts (88), wins (10) and innings pitched (99.2). As a freshman in 2004, Pease led the conference in strikeouts and innings pitched en route to winning NEC Rookie of the Year and earning First Team All-NEC honors. During the 2006 campaign, the ace led the league in wins and was named the NEC Pitcher of the Year while earning a spot on the First Team All-NEC squad for the second time in his career. Pease rounded out his Mount St. Mary's career by helping lead the Mountaineers to their first-ever Northeast Conference regular season title in 2007 as the team compiled a school-record 35 wins.

Eric Smith | Class of 2007 | Baseball
Smith wrapped up his Mount St. Mary's career ranking among the top-10 in program history in 12 different categories, including second all-time in hits (198), runs (127) and RBI (139). The slugger also ranks fifth in Mount history in batting average (.341) and home runs (21), and sixth in doubles (37). During his standout career, Smith earned Second Team All-NEC honors as a first baseman in three different seasons. As a senior in 2007, he helped the Mountaineers capture their first-ever Northeast Conference regular season title and a school-record 35 wins, as he registered 68 hits and 61 RBI, which both rank second-most in a single season in program history.
