Mount St. Mary's Baseball Drops Second Game In Series Against Central Connecticut State

New Britain, Conn. (March 18, 2017) - One day after Brendan Smith threw a complete game for Central Connecticut State, Mike Appel threw a no hitter that helped the Blue Devils defeat Mount St. Mary's 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. 

In a pitcher's duel, CCSU scored the only runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning when Dylan Maher flied out to centerfield that plated Dean Lockery for the first run and one batter later Kanios singled through the left side of the infield that scored Ryan Costello. 

Jordan Lawson had a strong outing for Mount pitching 6.2 innings while only giving up two earned runs in the start and Zach Call pitched 1.1 innings in relief while giving up no runs. 

Lawson (0-2) receives the loss for Mount St. Mary's while Mike Appel (1-2) receives the win in the decision for the Blue Devils. 

The final game of the series is tomorrow, March 19 at 12 pm.
