MOUNT UPDATE
The Mountaineers collected their third win of the season last time out, topping UMBC by a 5-3 margin in the final game of a home-and-home series on Sunday. Rookie Hunter Shuff struck out nine in seven innings of work while allowing just one earned run to lead the Mount to victory and collect the first collegiate win of his career. Shuff's seven innings pitched and nine strikeouts were both career highs.
The Mountaineers plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, highlighted by an RBI double to left center by Zach Hostetter, and Tyler Post added to the team's lead, driving in an insurance run in the seventh on his second double of the game. Michael Kuypers pitched the final two innings in relief to close out the victory for the Mount and register his first career save.

ABOUT UMES
The Hawks took two of three from Delaware St. over the weekend to move to 7-19 overall and 3-5 in MEAC play. Prior to their series win this past weekend, the Hawks had lost 12 of their previous 13 contests. Mike Escanilla (.315 avg.) and Jessey Valdez (.313, 2 HR, 22 RBI) are the team's top two hitters, and three other Hawks are tied for the team-lead with two homers apiece. Toby Hoskins, who owns a 0-4 record and 11.16 ERA, is set to get the start on the Mound for the Hawks.

The Mountaineers own a 27-6 advantage in the all-time series with UMES despite dropping the two most recent games by finals of 5-3 and 8-4 back in 2014. Mount St. Mary's is a perfect 10-0 against UMES at home, 17-3 on the road and 0-3 in neutral site contests.
