LIU Brooklyn scored five times in the eighth inning, including four unearned runs, to take a 6-2 advantage, and Anthony Rupp finished off his complete game effort as the Blackbirds salvaged a split with a victory in game two of the doubleheader.

Mount St. Mary's held a 2-1 lead heading into the eighth before LIU struck for five runs. Edward Modica hit a two-run double to left center to put the Blackbirds on top, 3-2, and Dom Paiotti stroked a pinch-hit bases-clearing double later in the frame to extend LIU's advantage to 6-2.

Chris Wessels and Owens each collected a pair of hits in the contest for the Mount. Wessels gave the Mount a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning with his first career homer, a solo shot to left center.

Austin Bonadio pitched five strong innings on the mound, yielding one earned run on four hits while striking out a pair. Rupp allowed two earned runs in nine innings of work to collect the win for LIU Brooklyn.
