Box Score New Britain, Conn. (April 10, 2016) – Tyler Post launched a three-run homer to left center in the top of the seventh to lift Mount St. Mary's University baseball to a comeback win over Central Connecticut State, 6-4, in the series finale on Sunday.
The Mount trailed 2-1 heading into the top of the sixth before a solo shot to left from Vaughn Parker tied the game at 2-all. The homer for Parker was the first of his career.
The Blue Devils answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the sixth to retake the lead, but in the top of the seventh with two runners on and two outs, Post delivered his team-leading fourth dinger of the season, a three-run shot that put the Mount in front, 5-4.
Mount St. Mary's added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single to left by Ryan Owens, and Kuypers shut down the Blue Devils in the final pair of frames as the Mount collected a 6-4 victory.
Kuypers tossed five solid innings in relief, allowing no earned runs on four hits while striking out five to pick up the first win of his collegiate career.
Owens went 3-for-5 in the contest, and Post and Patrick Causa also added multi-hit games with two hits apiece. Post added a team-high three RBI, marking his fourth game of the season with multiple runs driven in.
Mount St. Mary's hosts Fairleigh Dickinson in a four-game series beginning with game one on Friday, April 15 at 3 p.m.
