Mount St. Mary's is back in Emmitsburg for its home-opening series against Buffalo this weekend after beginning the year with seven straight road games. The Mountaineers square off with the Bulls in a three-game series on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
MOUNT UPDATE
The Mountaineers earned their first win of the season last time out with a 2-1 victory at UNC Asheville despite getting no-hit in the contest. Lefty starter Chad Diehl struck out four in five strong innings on the mound while allowing just one run to collect his first win of the campaign. After falling down 1-0, the Mountaineers grabbed a pair of runs in the top of the fifth as Tyler Post collected an RBI groundout and Patrick Causa scored on a passed ball to give the Mount a 2-1 advantage. Michael Kuypers and Jordan Lawson combined for four scoreless innings in relief to close out the victory. Jordan Carr and Eric Whitecavage threw a combined no-hitter for Asheville, but the Mount's pair of unearned runs proved to be the difference.

ABOUT BUFFALO
The Bulls sit at 3-6 overall on the year after dropping three straight at Kentucky this past weekend. Mike Abrunzo (.375), Vinny Mallaro (.360) and Ben Haefner (.304) are the three Bulls hitting over .300 on the season, and Abrunzo and Mallaro have provided the power, combining for three homers and 12 RBI. Alec Tuohy owns the best ERA among Bulls' starters, posting a 4.76 mark with 10 strikeouts in 17 innings.

The Mountaineers and Bulls have met nine times in series history with Buffalo holding a 6-3 advantage. The two teams haven't squared off since 2002, when Buffalo earned a pair of victories, 11-10 and 9-3.
