Maddie Kole and Nicolas Fransham Paced the Mount Cross Country Teams at George Mason Invitational

Leesburg, Va. (October 1, 2016)--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the George Mason Invitational in wet conditions today.  Freshman Maddie Kole led the Mount women with a sixth-place finish while Nicolas Fransham paced the men's team with a 12th-place mark.

Kole followed her win at the Cappy Anderson Invitational two weeks ago with a sixth-place finish at the meet today.  She posted a time of 23:09.9 to lead the Mountaineers on the six-kilometer course.  Ashleigh Kocher was 22nd overall (25:11.1) with Clarke Hooper finishing 25th at 25:30.4.

Kent State won the women's race with 25 points, followed by George Mason (39), Norfolk State (92), the Mount (94) and Christendom (128).

Nicolas Fransham paced the Mountaineer men's team for the third consecutive race.  Fransham finished in 12th place at the meet, traversing the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:57.58.  The Mount had a group of runners finish close together.  Scott Baker was 27th overall at 26:53.2, Christopher Evans was 29th at 26:57.6, Mitchel Wileczek was 32nd at 27:23.2 and Jonathon Johnson was 34th at 27:27.7.

George Mason won the men's race with 29 points, followed by Norfolk State (30), Kent State (71), the Mount (119), Navy (132) and Christendom (180).

Mount St. Mary's returns to action in two weeks at Delaware State.
