MOUNT UPDATE:  The Mount dropped a midweek contest at George Mason on Tuesday to fall to 4-17 overall.  The Mountaineers opened Northeast Conference play by splitting a four-game home series with Central Connecticut last weekend.  Andrew Clow paces the Mount with a .364 average while Kory Britton is hitting .347.  Clow, Britton and Brian Parreira are tied for the team lead with 11 RBIs.

ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS:  LIU Brooklyn enters the weekend series 9-17 overall and 2-2 in the NEC.  The Blackbirds dropped a pair of midweek games to St. John's (6-3) and Iona (13-5) after splitting a four-game series with Wagner last weekend.  Tommy Jakubowski leads LIU with a .388 average while Jon McAllister is hitting .333.  Mark Hernandez is hitting 255 with a team-high 21 RBIs.  On the mound, Brian Drapeau has made seven starts and is 0-3 with a 3.92 ERA in 43.2 innings.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES:  LIU Brooklyn holds a 53-25 lead in the all-time series since the Mount moved to NCAA Division I in 1989.  The Mountaineers are 11-30 on the road against the Blackbirds, including a 1-11 mark since 2009.  Last year, the Blackbirds took three of four games in the series at the Mount's E.T. Straw Family Stadium.  LIU Brooklyn has won 19 of the past 25 meetings since 2008.

CLOW'S DEFENSE:  Mount St. Mary's catcher Andrew Clow has thrown out 14-of-31 (.452) base stealers this season, 13th in the nation among catchers with at least 10 caught stealing.  Clow has been even better of late, throwing out seven of the past eight (.875) basestealers, and 9-of-13 (.692)  dating back to March 21.

LAWSON NAMED NEC PITCHER OF THE WEEK:  Junior left-hander Jordan Lawson was named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.  Lawson was the pitcher of record in each of the Mount's victories in the team's split of its four-game Northeast Conference opening series against Central Connecticut.  Lawson allowed the opponents to a .115 average while striking out 11 and issuing only one walk in 8.2 innings of work for the week.  Lawson is the first Mount player to earn NEC Pitcher of the Week honors since Kent Worthington on March 29, 2010.  Click HERE for the full release.

OWENS PICKING UP PACE:  Junior outfielder Ryan Owens is hitting .311 (23-for-74) this season while he is tied for the team lead with 12 runs scored.  Over the past nine games, Owens is hitting .375 (12-for-32) with a team-best .447 on-base percentage.

PITCHING:  The Mount pitching staff has compiled a 4.14 ERA over the past 14 games with Jordan Lawson (1.04 ERA, 17.1 IP), Chris Campbell (1.50 ERA, 12.0 IP) and Kevin Myers (1.93 ERA, 14.0 IP) leading the way. 

ON THE BASEPATHS:  Leadoff hitter Jay Knight continues to add to his school record for stolen bases.  Knight has six steals in seven attempts this year, and now has a school-record 46 in his career.  Knight has reached base in each of the past seven games, hitting .304 during that stretch.

BRITTON ON CAREER CHARTS:  Senior Kory Britton is second on the team with a .347 average this year.  Britton is currently sixth all-time at the Mount with a career .335 average in 62 games played, right behind Joe Catania (.336) and percentage points ahead of Josh Vittek (.335).

UP NEXT:  The Mount visits UMBC on Wednesday, April 15, before heading to defending NEC champion Bryant for a four-game set on April 17-19.
