MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount lost a pair of one-run games last week to fall to 2-13 on the season. Kevin Myers took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in the Mount's 4-3 loss to UMBC in extra innings. Myers finished the game tossing 6.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits. Andrew Clow, who is hitting .357 on the year, is riding a 12-game hit streak. Kory Britton, who went 4-for-5 with three RBIs in the Mount's 8-7 loss at Bucknell, leads the squad with a .358 average. On the mound, Chris Campbell is 1-1 with an NEC-best 1.80 ERA in six appearances (one start) while Chad Diehl is 1-2 with a 1.93 ERA in four starts.
ABOUT THE COLONIALS: George Washington is 13-8 overall and 4-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference after a three-game sweep of St. Bonaventure over the weekend. The Colonials are slated to play at UMBC on Tuesday before playing the Mount on Wednesday. Joey Bartosic leads the offense with a .357 average while Robbie Metz is hitting .310. On the mound, Metz is 2-0 with a 0.57 ERA in five starts while Bobby LeWarne is 4-2 with a 4.74 ERA and a team-high 35 strikeouts in six starts.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: The Mount fell to George Washington, 10-1, on March 18 in Arlington, Va. The Colonials now hold a 22-2 lead in the all-time series since the Mount moved to NCAA Division I in 1989. This year's meetings are the first between the two schools since a 6-2 Mount victory in 2009 at Straw Family Stadium.
FIRST MEETING THIS YEAR: The Mount lost at George Washington, 10-1, on March 18, in Arlington, Va. The Colonials scored seven times in the bottom of the third inning to take control. Brian Parreira provided the Mount's lone run with an RBI double. Robbie Metz went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored while Bobby Campbell and Andrew Selby each had three RBI in the win. Brady Renner pitched five scoreless innings to earn the win for George Washington. Scott Nickerson took the loss for the Mount, allowing seven runs in 2.2 innings.
UP NEXT: The Mount opens Northeast Conference play by hosting Central Connecticut State for a four-game series starting on Thursday, April 2.
