Box Score Port Charlotte, Fla. (March 2, 2015)--The Mount St. Mary's baseball team fell to Northeastern, 15-1, in a non-conference matchup in Florida on Monday afternoon. The Mount fell to 2-2 on its season-opening trip.
The Huskies (4-6) scored single runs in the first and third innings to take a 2-0 lead. The Mount manufactured a run in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit in half.
Zach Call led off with a single up the middle and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After Jay Knight walked, the runners moved up on a wild pitch. Call then scampered home on a Ryan Owens bunt single.
Northeastern answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to make it 3-1, and then broke the game open with a five run sixth.
Call and Kory Britton each went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Mountaineers while Owens and Andrew Clow also had base hits.
Kevin Myers started for the Mount, allowing a pair of runs in four innings pitched.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action tomorrow against Maine.
