Box Score Arlington, Va. (March 18, 2015)--Mount St. Mary's lost at George Washington, 10-1, on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference baseball matchup. Brian Parreira had an RBI double for the Mount in the game.
The Colonials (9-6) scored seven times in the bottom of the third inning to take control of the game. The Mountaineers got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth when Zach Hostetter singled, moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on Parreira's two-base hit.
George Washington answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth and two more in the eighth to earn the win.
The Mount (2-9) was limited to five hits with Tommy Quealy, Andrew Clow and Tyler Post each with base hits.
Mount St. Mary's starter Scott Nickerson allowed seven runs in 2.2 innings, allowing five hits and six walks. Chris Campbell pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief with a pair of strikeouts. Ben Smallenbroek allowed a run in two innings while Seth Schubert allowed a pair of unearned runs in one inning.
The Mount is back in action on Friday, March 20, at 3:00 p.m., when Jacksonville visits Straw Family Stadium on campus for the first game of a three-game set.
