Box Score Staten Island, N.Y. (May 2, 2014)—Mount St. Mary's lost to Wagner, 13-2, in the opening game of a four-game Northeast Conference series on Friday afternoon at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark. Kory Britton hit a solo home run for the Mount in the loss.
Wagner (13-27, 6-7 NEC) scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to break the game open to earn the win.
The Mount (13-21, 6-11 NEC) managed five hits in the game off of Wagner starter Ryan Casey, who tossed a complete game. In addition to the Britton home run, Chris Del Vecchio, Tommy Quealy, Michael Flyte and Andrew Frazier also had hits.
On the mound, starter Jordan Lawson took the loss, allowing eight runs (seven earned) in three-plus innings of work. Austin Bonadio allowed three runs in three innings while Ben Smallenbroek allowed two runs in two innings of work.
The teams continue the series with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader tomorrow.
