MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's lost to Bucknell, 6-1, in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday at E.T. Straw Family Stadium. It was the Mount's first game in 10 days. The Mountaineers used seven different pitchers in the game, with starter Scott Nickerson taking the loss. Andrew Frazier scored the Mount's run on a Kory Britton sacrifice fly. The Mountaineers have lost four in a row since a four-game sweep over NYIT in mid-March.
ABOUT CCSU: Central Connecticut State won a pair of midweek home games to move to 7-7 on the season. On Wednesday, the Blue Devils edged Rhode Island, 3-1, behind a solid pitching performance from freshman Brett Susi, and four relievers. Josh Ingham leads CCSU with a .277 average and seven RBIs this season. The Blue Devils are hitting .219 as a team over their first 14 games. On the mound, Tom Coughlin is the top starter, going 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA and 16 strikeouts in three starts (20.0 IP).
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: CCSU holds a 31-21 lead over the Mount in the all-time series that began in 1998. The Blue Devils are 10-2 against the Mount over the past three seasons. Last year, CCSU took three of four games against the Mount at home on May 17-19. The Mount is 10-14 all-time on the road against CCSU.
NEC OPENERS: The Mount begins its 25th season in the Northeast Conference with its four-game series at CCSU. The Mountaineers have lost their past four NEC openers and are 6-18 all-time in the opening game of NEC play. The Mount was swept by Bryant in each of the last two seasons in their NEC opening series. However, the Mount has posted a .500 or better record in the NEC opening series in six of the past eight seasons.
CLOW LEADING THE LEAGUE: Mount St. Mary's catcher Andrew Clow leads the Northeast Conference with a .392 average this season. Clow is riding an eight-game hit streak, going 14-for-32 (.438) at the plate over that span. The junior also leads the Mount with a .450 on-base percentage.

FRAZIER OFF TO SOLID START: Freshman Andrew Frazier is off to a solid start to his collegiate career. Frazier, who is the Mount's starting shortstop, is hitting .293 with 10 runs scored and five stolen bases while starting all 15 games this season. He has reached base in each of his past 11 games, hitting .310 over that span.
BIG WEEKEND: Mount St. Mary's swept its four-game series with NYIT on March 15-16. It was the Mount's first four-game sweep of a series since April 2009 against Fairleigh Dickinson.
WIN STREAK: The Mount's four-game sweep of NYIT gave the Mount its first four-game win streak since March of 2012. The last time the Mount won five in a row was to close out the regular season in 2007.
LAMONT FLIRTS WITH NO-HITTER: Left-hander Karl Lamont flirted with a no-hitter in his last start for the Mountaineers. Lamont tossed 6.2 innings of no-hit ball before Lehigh's Tyler Brong singled up the middle to break up the no-hit bid. The Mountain Hawks then scored four times off Lamont in the eighth to rally for the 5-1 victory. Lamont is 1-1 with a 4.44 ERA in five starts this season for the Mount. He has struck out 23 batters and walked just four in 26.1 innings of work.
