MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's lost all three games of its series at Lehigh last weekend to fall to 6-8 on the season. Karl Lamont took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in the Mount's 5-1 loss in the second game as Lehigh rallied with five runs in the eight to earn the win. Andrew Clow leads the Mount and is 41st in the nation with a .404 average. Clow has a seven-game hit streak, posting a .484 average (13-for-28) over that span. Freshman Andrew Frazier is hitting .298 while Kory Britton boasts a .283 average with 11 RBIs. On the mound, Lamont is 1-1 with a 4.44 ERA in five starts. He has struck out 23 batters while walking just four in 26.1 innings. Reliever Nick Riley is 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA in nine innings of work. Riley has nine strikeouts and no walks allowed this season.
ABOUT BINGHAMTON: Binghamton is 5-13 on the year after dropping two of three games to Hartford last weekend. On Sunday, Jake Cryts tossed seven scoreless innings for the Bearcats, but Hartford rallied for a 3-2 win with three runs in the eighth inning. Bill Bereszniewicz leads Binghamton with a .304 average, 12 runs scored and seven doubles. Daniel Nevares is hitting .281 with six doubles and 10 runs scored. On the mound,Jack Rogalla is the top starter, posting a 2-3 record with a 2.08 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 39.0 innings pitched.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: Mount St. Mary's is 4-1 all-time against Binghamton since moving to NCAA Division I in 1989. The Mount swept a pair of games in 1989 (14-13, 6-1) before winning two of three games against the Bearcats in 2002 (6-3, 8-11, 3-2). All five previous matchups have been played at the Mount.
CLOW LEADING THE LEAGUE: Mount St. Mary's catcher Andrew Clow leads the Northeast Conference with a .404 average this season. Clow is riding a seven-game hit streak, going 13-for-28 (.484) at the plate over that span. The junior also leads the Mount with a .464 on-base percentage.
AT THE TOP: Senior leadoff hitter Brandon Scott leads the Mount with 13 RBI this season. Scott, who is hitting .231, also tops the team with 12 runs scored and seven stolen bases. Scott has walked 10 times and has a .359 on-base percentage.
BIG WEEKEND: Mount St. Mary's swept its four-game series with NYIT on March 15-16. It was the Mount's first four-game sweep of a series since April 2009 against Fairleigh Dickinson.
WIN STREAK: The Mount's four-game sweep of NYIT gave the Mount its first four-game win streak since March of 2012. The last time the Mount won five in a row was to close out the regular season in 2007.
LAMONT FLIRTS WITH NO-HITTER: Left-hander Karl Lamont flirted with a no-hitter in his last start for the Mountaineers. Lamont tossed 6.2 innings of no-hit ball before Lehigh's Tyler Brong singled up the middle to break up the no-hit bid. The Mountain Hawks then scored four times off Lamont in the eighth to rally for the 5-1 victory. Lamont is 1-1 with a 4.44 ERA in five starts this season for the Mount. He has struck out 23 batters and walked just four in 26.1 innings of work.
