Box Score

Port Charlotte, Fla. (February 23, 2013)--Mount St. Mary's lost to Ohio State, 13-2, in the first game of a seven-game Florida trip on Saturday night.  Sam Nott had a two-run single for the Mountaineers (2-2) in the loss.

Ohio State (4-2) scored in the bottom of the first to take an early lead, and took control of the game with a four-run fourth.  The Buckeyes extended the lead to 13-0 before the Mount scored a pair of runs in the ninth.

In the ninth, Mark Quaranta doubled with two outs to break up the Ohio State bid for a no-hitter.  Quaranta's double put runners on second and third as Brandon Scott was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame.  Nott followed with a two-run single to put the Mount on the scoreboard.  Tom Healy followed with a base hit as well, but Ohio State got the final out to earn the win.

The teams play tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
