Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (May 12, 2012)--Mount St. Mary's lost to Central Connecticut State, 17-3, to wrap up the 2012 season on Saturday afternoon at E.T. Straw Family Stadium on campus. Senior Josh Winter went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the loss.
After CCSU (28-22, 19-13 NEC) scored a run in the top of the first inning, Winter belted a two-run shot in the bottom of the first to give the Mount a 2-1 lead.
The Blue Devils regained the lead in the top of the third inning on a Dylan DelaCruz two-run homer. CCSU added another run in the third and six more in the fourth to take control of the game.
Ryan Owens went 2-for-5 with an RBI double while Winter and Andrew Clow each went 2-for-3 at the plate in the loss.
It was Senior Day for Mount St. Mary's with seniors Brady Feigl, Buddy Fields, Michael Foster, Tom Healy, Dan Horner, Andrew Schrock and Winter all being honored prior to the game.
The Mount finishes the 2012 season 14-40 overall and 7-25 in NEC play.
Game Notes: Winter finished the year with a .302 average while leading the team with eight home runs and 44 RBI...Michael Foster recorded a hit in his final at bat for the Mount...He finished his career as the Mount's all-time leader in assists.
