MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount enters Tuesday's game at Georgetown 11-23 on the season after a split of its four-game series with LIU Brooklyn this past weekend. Jack Schwartz hit .444 with two doubles and four RBI in the series to pace the Mount offense. Mark Quaranta hit a three-run homer and Josh Winter followed with a solo shot to lift the Mount to a 5-1 victory in the third game. In the final game, the Mount scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to earn a 9-5 victory. Scott Nickerson and Nick Riley each posted their first collegiate wins in the series while Dan Horner picked up a pair of saves.
ABOUT THE HOYAS: Georgetown defeated No. 18 Louisville, 6-3, on Saturday to salvage the final game of its three-game series. The Hoyas are 15-17 on the season and 3-6 in the Big East Conference. Mike Garza is the team's top offensive threat with a .386 average, five home runs, nine doubles and 27 RBI on the year. Corbin Blakey is hitting .342 and Justin Leeson .338 for the Hoyas as well. On the mound, Will Harris is the top starter with a 3-2 record and a 3.72 ERA in seven starts.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES vs. GEORGETOWN: Georgetown holds a 17-10 lead in the series since the Mount moved to NCAA Division I in 1989. The Mount defeated the Hoyas, 10-9, in dramatic fashion earlier this season on Tom Healy's two-run walk-off homer.
EARLIER THIS SEASON VS. THE HOYAS: Tom Healy belted a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift Mount St. Mary's to a 10-9 come-from-behind win over Georgetown on March 14. The Mount scored the final six runs in the game to earn the victory. Trailing 9-8 in the bottom of the ninth, Sam Nott set the table for Healy when he was hit by a 3-2 pitch with one out. Healy then drove an 0-1 pitch over the right-center field fence for his second home run of the season to lift the Mount to the win. For a full recap, please click HERE.
ON THE ROAD: The Mount begins a 17-game road trip with the matchup against Georgetown on Tuesday. The Mount's next home game will not be until Thursday, May 10, when Central Connecticut State visits E.T. Straw Family Stadium for the first of a four-game series. That is the Mount's final series of the regular season.
UP NEXT: The Mount heads to Quinnipiac for a four-game Northeast Conference series beginning on Friday, April 13, with a 3:00 p.m. game.
