Emmitsburg, Md. (April 7, 2012)--Mount St. Mary's scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to post a 9-5 victory over visiting LIU Brooklyn at the Mount's E.T. Straw Family Stadium.  Sam Nott went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in to pace the Mount offense in the victory.

The Mount (11-23, 4-12 NEC) snapped a 5-5 tie with a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Michael Foster broke the tie when he laced a two-run double to right field to give the Mount a 7-5 lead.  Nott then added a two-run double to left to plate two more runners for a four-run Mount advantage.

The rally started when Mark Quaranta walked, and Josh Winter followed with a bunt single over the head of the pitcher.  The Mount loaded the bases when Quaranta beat out the throw to third on a Mo Moriarty sacrifice bunt.

The Blackbirds (13-19, 5-7 NEC) took a 2-0 lead in  the top of the first on an Albert Foz RBI single and a base loaded walk by Julian Castro.

The Mount got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second.  Moriarty walked, Foster and Ryan Owens singled, and Nott hit a sacrifice fly to right field.

Mount St. Mary's grabbed a 5-2 lead with a four-run fourth inning.  With two outs, Owens and Nott started the rally with back-to-back singles.  Jack Schwartz then hit a two-run double down the left field line to give the Mount a 3-2 advantage.  Nick Walker and Jay Knight each walked to load the bases for Quaranta, who came through with a two-run single to center field.

LIU's Drew Walsh belted a three-run homer to even the score at 5-5 in the top of the fifth.

The Mount's bottom four hitters in the lineup went a combined 8-for-15 with seven RBI in the victory.  Nott was 3-for-3 with three RBI while Foster and Owens each went 2-for-4 in the game.  Schwartz finished the contest 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Sophomore Nick Riley picked up his first career win with a solid relief appearance.  Riley struck out four while allowing three runs in 6.2 innings to earn the victory.  Dan Horner pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts to earn his fourth save of the year.

The Mount will now play its next 17 games on the road, starting with a non-conference matchup at Georgetown on Tuesday, April 10, at 7:00 p.m.  The Mount defeated the Hoyas, 10-9, on a Tom Healy two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth earlier this season.
