MOUNT UPDATE:  The Mount went 1-1 last week, posting a 9-6 victory in 11 innings over preseason Colonial Athletic Association favorite James Madison on March 7 after falling to George Mason, 5-2, the previous day.  Left-hander Dan Horner picked up the win against James Madison, tossing five innings of one-hit relief with six strikeouts.  Mark Quaranta drove home the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th while also belting a three-run homer in the sixth inning.  Josh Winter leads the Mount with a .372 average, four doubles and 11 RBI while Quaranta is hitting .366 with nine runs scored and nine RBI.  On the mound, Horner is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in six appearances while Brady Feigl is the top starter with a 2.25 ERA in two starts.

ABOUT THE HAWKS:  Maryland-Eastern Shore enters Tuesday's doubleheader 0-14 on the season after a 6-3 loss to Saint Joseph's on Sunday.  The Hawks are 0-4 at home this year, dropping all four games of a series against Cornell.  James Newsome is the top hitter (.294, 6 RBI) while Zachary Saca is the top pitcher (0-2, 4.58 ERA, 6 app).  UMES is hitting .219 and has a 9.65 ERA so far this year. 

THE ALL-TIME SERIES vs. MARYLAND-EASTERN SHORE:  The Mount has won the past 11 meetings with UMES and now holds a 24-4 lead in the all-time series that began in 1994.  Last year, the Mount swept a pair of doubleheaders with the Hawks.  Maryland-Eastern Shore's last win over the Mount was a 5-1 victory on Feb. 20, 2007.

LAST YEAR'S VS. HAWKS:  The Mount swept a pair of doubleheaders against the Hawks last season.  On March 15 at UMES, the Mount won 8-7 in 10 innings and 15-4. The teams played a twinbill at the Mount on May 5, with the Mount capturing 7-4 and 13-2 wins.  Dan Horner went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 8.2 innings against UMES last year.  At the plate, Tommy Flynn was 10-for-17 (.588) with 10 runs scored in the four games while Michael Foster hit .571 (8-for-14) with five runs scored.

ABOUT THE HOYAS:  Georgetown is 10-6 on the season after falling to Bucknell, 18-3, in their final game in Florida on Sunday. The Hoyas went 4-4 during its week at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida.  Corbin Blakey is hitting .438 and Justin Leeson .436 to pace the offense for Georgetown this year.  On the mound, Thomas Polus is the top starter with a 3.12 ERA in three starts.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES vs. GEORGETOWN:  Georgetown holds a 17-9 lead in the series since the Mount moved to NCAA Division I in 1989.  The Hoyas have won the past two meetings between the teams and are 5-3 all-time in Emmitsburg.

LAST MEETING VS. THE HOYAS:  Georgetown earned an 8-7 win over  the Mount on April 13, 2010, in the last matchup between the two schools.  The Mount scored five times in the top of the eighth to take a 7-5 lead, but the Hoyas rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth and one more in the ninth to earn the win.  Josh Winter went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Mount. 

HORNER COMES UP BIG:  Senior Dan Horner was almost unhittable in the Mount's 9-6 win in 11 innings at James Madison.  Horner struck out six and allowed just one hit in five innings of relief to earn the win in the game.  He is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in six appearances this year.  Horner has 14 strikeouts in 12.0 innings of work.

WINTER STARTS STRONG:  Senior Josh Winter has recorded at least one hit in 10 of the Mount's 11 games this year.  Winter leads the Mount with a .372 average, four doubles and 11 RBI.   Winter, a career .293 hitter, hit .194 last year for the Mount in 39 games.  His 11 RBI already surpass his season total of seven last season.

QUARANTA HAS BIG GAME:  Mark Quaranta drove in four runs in the Mount's 9-6 extra-inning win at James Madison.  Quaranta hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning and then drove home the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th.  Quaranta is hitting .366 this season with nine runs scored and nine RBI.

WELCOME BACK BRADY:  Left-hander Brady Feigl is 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA so far this season after missing the 2011 season due to injury.  Feigl has struck out 14 batters in eight innings of work and is holding the opponents to a .080 average so far this year.

UP NEXT:  The Mount opens Northeast Conference play with a four-game series against Bryant beginning on Friday, March 16.
