Mount Baseball Rolls Past St. Bonaventure, 13-3, for First Win of the Season

Winter Haven, Fla. (February 28, 2012)--Michael Foster went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI to lead Mount St. Mary's past St. Bonaventure, 13-3, on Tuesday afternoon in the first game of a four-game series.  It was the Mount's first win of the season.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the top of the fourth inning, the Mount scored four times to take the lead for good.  The Mount added another run in the fifth, three more in the sixth, and sealed the win with five runs in the top of the eighth.

Josh Winter went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in the win while Sam Nott was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.  Ryan Owens was 2-for-5 with an RBI and Mark Quaranta 1-for-2 with two runs driven in for the Mountaineers.

On the mound, freshman Thomas Williams earned his first collegiate victory, allowing three runs with three strikeouts in seven innings of work.  Dan Horner closed out the game by striking out four in two scoreless innings of relief.

The Mount returns to action tomorrow against St. Bonaventure with an 11:30 a.m. game.
