Mount Update: Mount St. Mary's lost to Saint Joseph's, 1-0, in overtime on Sunday afternoon in the home opener. The Hawks scored on a free kick in the 97th minute to take home the victory. Goalkeeper Alicia Miller made seven saves in the game, including several outstanding stops to keep the game scoreless. The Mount was outshot, 16-8, in the contest, including 3-0 in the overtime. Sadie Winship, Keriann McGettigan and Kelly Baker each had a pair of shots to pace the Mount offense.
About the Bison: Howard lost to Rider, 3-2, in overtime on Tuesday night to fall to 0-4-1 on the season. Jordan Brown scored twice to give the Bison a 2-0 lead, but the Broncs scored twice in the final eight minutes to force overtime. Howard has also tied Wagner (1-1) and lost to VMI (4-3), Longwood (2-0) and Lafayette (1-0) this season. Brown leads the team with three goals and one assist while Owyn Mason also has three goals. In goal, Chanel Bell has a 1.90 goals against average and 21 saves in 331:05 of action while Kyra Dickinson has a 1.96 goals against average and 14 saves in 183:46.
The All-Time Series with Howard: The Mount holds a 5-2-2 advantage in the all-time series with Howard that began in 1996. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since a 2-1 overtime win by the Mount on September 25, 2005, in Washington, D.C. Mount St. Mary's is 2-2 at home against Howard.

Last Meeting Between the Schools: Keriann McGettigan scored on a header in the 24th minute to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 1-0 win last season. It was the Mount's first win against the Tigers since 1995. After Towson carried play throughout the first part of the opening half, the Mount earned a corner kick in the 24th minute. Kaitlyn Chambers took the corner and hit a perfect ball to the middle of the penalty box where McGettigan drilled a header into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal. From there, the Mount defense held strong, keeping Towson off the scoreboard the rest of the way. Goalkeeper Alicia Miller made three saves in recording her second shutout of the year and sixth of her career. Towson held a 12-to-6 advantage in shots in the game and a 6-to-2 margin in corner kicks.
Historic Win: The Mount's 1-0 overtime victory over Rider was just the second in a season opener for the Mount women's soccer team. It was also the first time in program history the team has won its season opener on the road. The Mount is now 2-18 all-time in season openers with the other victory coming against Delaware State (10-0) in 2005.
Clean Sheets: Senior goalkeeper Alicia Miller posted her eighth career shutout in the Mount's 1-0 overtime win at Rider. The eighth shutouts are second all-time at the Mount behind Anna Lebo, who had 10 shutouts from 2004-07.
Miller Time: Senior goalkeeper Alicia Miller is second all-time in program history with 338 saves, trailing Anna Lebo (2004-07), who made 350 saves in her career. Miller also ranks fifth in career goals against average (1.97) and save percentage (.763). She already owns the school record for 53 career starts in goal while her 55 games played are five behind Lebo's school record for goalkeepers. Miller's 1.19 goals against average last season was the third-best single-season mark in Mount history.
Winship Moving Up Scoring List: Senior forward Sadie Winship has moved into a tie for 10th-place on the Mount's all-time points list. Winship, who has 10 goals and five assists in her Mount career, is tied for ninth all-time in goals scored.
Extra Time: Mount St. Mary's has gone into overtime in each of its two games this season and four of the past five games dating back to last year. The Mount opened the year with a 1-0 overitm e win at Rider on a Sadie Winship free kick before falling to Saint Jospeh's, 1-0, on a free kick in overtime. The Mountaineers are now 4-6-6 in overtime games under head coach Tom Gosselin.
Youth in the Lineup: Head coach Tom Gosselin has had four freshmen (Kristina Caravelli, MacKenzie Buckwalter, Melissa Rowan and Alicia Mirando )in the starting lineup in each of the Mount's first two games. Freshmen Cara Deegan and Paige Peck have appeared off the bench in both games as well for the Mount this season.
Preseason Poll: The Mount was picked to finish 10th in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches poll.
